How Anthropic’s Mythos has rewritten Firefox’s approach to cybersecurity

Mozilla used Anthropic’s Mythos Preview to find and fix 271 security vulnerabilities in Firefox 150.

Firefox team said it took resources and discipline to adjust to the firehose of bugs that new AI tools can uncover, but that this lift is necessary because these capabilities will inevitably be in attackers’ hands soon.

Mythos Preview fully autonomously identified and exploited a 17-year-old remote code execution vulnerability in FreeBSD. Anthropic said Mythos found thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities in every major operating system and web browser.

About 40 tech firms and institutions have initial access to Mythos to bolster their systems. Anthropic has not immediately offered the model to the public, citing security concerns.
